IPSC Vice-President Friedrich Gepperth har sendt ut et brev ang blyforbudet og håndtering i EU-kommisjonen. Legger det ut i sin helhet, da det adresseres alle:
Dear IPSC officials, dear IPSC shooters,
Find enclosed the latest proposal of the EU Commission on the lead issue.
There had been a dramatic and extremely positive change regarding rifle and handgun ammunition.
The EU Commission proposes no restriction regarding rifle and handgun ammunition at all!
No restriction on hunting or on sport shooting. On a range or outside!
Regarding shotgun ammo (gunshot) and slugs the Commission proposes quite some restrictions.
Hunting with lead based gunshot and slugs will be totally banned after a transition period of three years.
Lead gunshot will only be allowed on certain outdoor shooting ranges was shot size diameter from 1.9 to 2.6mm. No exemption for slugs.
We will try hard to get the permission of being allowed to use lead gunshot up to 3,2mm and slugs on outdoor shooting ranges (indoor is allowed anyway) with backstops which are used for rifle and pistol shooting.
I intend to propose that it is not allowed to shoot on flying objects (clay birds). Because this is what the Commission will not allow for bigger shot sizes.
